University of Birmingham – Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics
The University of Birmingham is ranked as one of the world’s top 50 institutions to study English Language in the 2017 QS World Rankings, and its Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics is a centre of excellence for both teaching and research.
The Department has expertise across a wide range of English Language disciplines, and provides opportunities to study both on campus and by distance learning. Programmes offered on campus include Applied Linguistics MA, Applied Linguistics with TESOL MA, Language, Culture and Communication MA and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) MA. Distance learning options include MA and PgCert programmes in Applied Linguistics and in TESOL. Alongside this, staff provide postgraduate research supervision, which is also offered on campus or by distance learning.
