Guangwei Hu

Guangwei Hu is an associate professor at the National Institute
of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His
research interests include academic literacy, language
assessment, and second language writing. He has published
about 90 articles on these and other areas in refereed journals
and edited volumes. He is an Associate Editor of
Encyclopedia of English Language Teaching
published by Wiley-
Blackwell in 2017 and serves on the editorial boards of several
international journals, including
English for Specific Purposes,
Frontiers of Education in China, and Language, Culture and
. Currently, he is the Associate Editor of the Journal
of English for Academic Purposes

Maocheng LIANG

Maocheng LIANG, Ph.D., is a professor of Applied Linguistics at the National Research Center for Foreign Language Education, Beijing Foreign Studies University. Dr. Liang’s background is in Second Language Acquisition (SLA), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Corpus Linguistics (CL). His research has focused on computational approaches to second language texts, with an emphasis on Automated Essay Scoring (AES) and Automated Writing Evaluation (AWE). He is the systems architect of iWrite®, an online writing tutoring and automated assessment system. He has published two monographs in this area, namely, Constructing a Model for the Computer-Assisted Scoring of Chinese EFL Learners' Argumentative Essays (2011) and Toward an Automated Essay Scoring System for Large-Scale English Language Tests (2012). He is also the author of What is Corpus Linguistics (2016), a co-author of Using Corpora: A Practical Coursebook (2010), the author of a number of journal articles, and the systems architect and developer of several computer systems for corpus analysis.
